Current Trends in Faucet Technology

As the world advances in technology, people benefit through a home’s plumbing upgrades.

Innovative technological advances are made at an astounding rate. Because of these technological improvements, we have become accustomed to having innovative technology at our fingertips. Homeowners see these luxuries and additional conveniences in energy-efficient appliances, smart thermostats, and more.

One area we’re constantly impressed with is the improvements in faucets for water conservation, water filtration, and ease of use. Some think that the tap is a fixture with only a few available modifications and may be surprised at how far standard faucets have come. Let’s take a closer look at the current trends in faucet and showerhead technology and the best new fixture:

On-demand water filtration

Water filtration is an immense value-add for homeowners and their families. Not only can a filtration system remove high mineral content that makes water hard, but it can also restore a refreshing flavor to drinking water.

Water filters at the faucet prevent bacteria and harsh metals from entering the water supply and work directly at the kitchen or bathroom sink. Many Las Vegas homeowners experience hard water, and a faucet that filters on-demand is a remarkable advancement in technology.

Water filtering faucets come at a perfect time, especially when whole-home water filters may still be out of budget or unnecessary. However, there are still substantial benefits to filtering all potable water in a home. In addition to safe drinking water, whole-home filters reduce the strain on the plumbing system.

WiFi showerheads

Innovative technology also extends to showers. Some companies have created an app connected to shower fixtures that can be digitally manipulated without the user being in the room. Homeowners can heat showers and adjust water pressure and flow with a WiFi connection before entering the bathroom. While these aren’t necessarily the most water-efficient option, there is something to be said about having a warm, relaxing shower set to the user’s preferred settings.

Touch and remote controls

Adjusting the showerhead or shower faucet before entering the shower may have resulted in a faceful of water. Touch controls allow users to press a button on a control panel or remote control to adjust the shower. Not only does this technology make the showering experience more pleasant, but it is also optimal for persons with mobility issues or who simply cannot reach the showerhead for adjustments.

Touchless faucets

While touchless faucets are not necessarily new, they are becoming more prevalent in today’s home kitchens and bathrooms. A hands-free kitchen faucet is usually sensor-automated and turns on and off when it senses movement nearby. In addition, many touchless faucet models are modified so that specific movement causes it to turn on, and therefore, there is less water waste. However, one caveat with a hands-free faucet is that it usually requires electricity to function. Therefore, a motion-sensor faucet may not be the best option if you experience frequent power outages.

As the world advances in technology, people benefit through a home’s plumbing upgrades. Faucets and showerheads may be the modernized equipment we see in bathrooms over the next few years. And, it’s exciting to think of what the next advancements in plumbing technology will bring.
